昭和２年アメリカから１２７００体の青い目のお人形が国際親善使節としてきました。その中の一体がメリーちゃんです。戦争の時、「人形を壊せ」と言う命令がでても、金子武男先生は、守り続けました。金子武男先生は、たなの中に入れて、戦争が終わるまで、かくしていました。昭和４１年に校舎を建て変える時にメリーちゃんが見つかりました。
In 1927, 12,700 Blue-eyed Dolls came from America as international goodwill envoys. Mary is one of these dolls. During the war, Mr. Takeo Kaneko continued to keep the doll safe even though an order was issued to "destroy the dolls." He kept the doll hidden until the end of the war by putting it inside a shelf. Mary was found in 1966 when the school building was being reconstructed.
昭和６２年ギューリック三世から新たに十体のお人形が送られました。その中の一体がエリカちゃんです。メリーちゃんが、東小に来て６０周年を記念して、エリカちゃんが、東小へやって来ました。今は、メリーちゃんと一緒に、校長室に飾られています。
In 1987, ten new dolls were sent by Mr. Gulick, 3d. Erika is one of these dolls. Erika came to Azuma Elementary School at the 60-year commemoration
of Mary's coming. Now she is exhibited in the principal's office together with Mary.
