Material from the Japanese Committee on World Friendship Among Children

Foreword

The Committee on World Friendship Among Children was formed in America with the purpose of promoting international friendship. Numerous dolls were sent by this committee to our Ministry of Education as messengers to show the feelings of friendship of American children. Now these dolls are being distributed to elementary schools and kindergartens throughout the country. It was decided to translate into Japanese these instructions prepared in America and to distribute them here so they can be used as a reference to carry out the Friendship Committee's original plan.

This pamphlet talked about the Hina Matsuri (Doll Festival), what type of dolls would be sent, who would send the dolls, and other things. Also, the plan's objective of exchange of mutual goodwill and friendship between children is explained.
