Letters from 4th Graders Dear Bill and Noriko, I am happy to receive a Blue-eyed Doll. It is very sad that there were over 6,000 victims in the terrorist incident of September 11. It is sad that innocent Japanese and American people died during World War II. I was surprised when I heard Bill's talk! In the future I want Japan and America to live together peacefully. Dear Bill and Noriko, How was today's Blue-eyed Doll ceremony? How cruel that the dolls sent to Japan were burned! I found out that the Blue-eyed Dolls are very, very rare. I now know that Kanagawa Prefecture has only eight dolls. I think our school is very, very blessed to have a doll. Thanks for today. I thought that I did not have any interest in dolls. But when I listened to your talks, I think that my feelings for the dolls' importance increased. Considering the destruction of the 12,000 dolls sent from America, if there were no war, the people could live in peace and the dolls would have been able to be kept safely. Letters from 5th GradersDear Bill and Noriko, It was great learning about the history of the Blue-eyed Dolls by listening to your talks. Even though many Blue-eyed Dolls were received a long time ago, it was really terrible that there was a war and that the dolls were burned. But I think it is terrific that there are places where Blue-eyed Dolls remain at Japanese schools.
