The Blue-eyed Doll
Scene 10

The police officer searched everywhere, the classrooms, closets, ceiling, and the teachers' room, which had the bookcase.  He even looked in boxes with books and supplies and inside the drawers of the teachers' desks.

During that time Mr. Kato sat still in the chair, hoping, "don't find her, don't find her."

If the doll were found, it would be burned. Both Mr. Kato and Mr. Sugawara would be arrested by the police, and something terrible would happen to them.

After searching for a long time, the police officer did not find anything, so he reluctantly left.

No one thought that the huge heavy bookcase could be moved and something hidden behind it. Silently behind the bookcase, Mary waited for the end of the war.
