The Blue-eyed Doll
Scene 12

Mr. Kato: "Mary, the war finally ended. You'll like it that you don't have to hide any longer. It really, really was a terrible war. So many people died. Some used to be children, who you liked so much. Some died in battle on the islands to the south. Some died in the air raids faced by every family. Please never forget those children."

Mr. Kato stroked the doll's head for a long time.
