The Blue-eyed Doll
Scene 3

Inside was the figure of a peacefully sleeping doll with long eyelashes and rose-colored cheeks.

Mr. Sugawara: "What a good-looking doll."

Mr. Kato: "I saw it a long time ago. It's cute, isn't it."

Mr. Sugawara: "Long ago the doll was displayed during the annual Doll Festival, Mr. Kato."

Mr. Kato: "Yes, it was."

Mr. Kato gently took the doll in his hands and hugged it.  He was startled when the doll cried out, "mama."
