Letter From School in Shimane Prefecture

This letter was received by Friends Beech Grove Sunday School thanking them for "Hope," the Friendship Doll they sent in the Friendship Doll Exchange in 1927. Beech Grove was a small rural Friends meeting near Wilmington, Ohio.

Dear Friends:

We are students of the Kimachi School, on the shore of Lake Shinji, Shimane-Ken. We thank you very much for your lovely gift. How lovely Hope looks with her blonde hair and blue eyes and in her native costume. You must be dressed up like Hope.

Hope is going to live with us. We will always take good care of her as a messenger of the goodwill which young Americans entertain toward young Japanese.

Yours sincerely,

(Signed) Ai Yamamoto
