Many American elementary school students, as part of Friendship Doll and Japan programs at their schools, write letters to Japanese children and adults. This section gives a sample of few of the letters that have been sent from America to Japan.

Letters from Second Grade Students - American students celebrated Hina Matsuri (Doll Festival). They wrote these letters to the second graders at a school in Yokohama, Japan.

Thank-you Letters from Second Grade Students - Sent in response to two Japanese Friendship Dolls given to their school.
Since 1986, Sidney Gulick, 3d, and his wife Frances have sent many American dolls to elementary schools and kindergartens throughout Japan. A letter from Mr. Gulick accompanies each doll. Below are a couple of these letters:
